Warks Ladies v Bucks Bunnies ~ Match Report
Posted by bullet.gif Deano on May 18 2009
Having propped up region 5 for the last three years, Warwickshire Ladies have had a surprising start to the 2009 season, winning their first three matches and only narrowly defeated by Worcs in their fourth. Under new leadership, Warks look to be a better team and are starting to enjoy the winning. They have plenty to build on with some decent players. They certainly don?t look to be the regional pushovers from previous years.

The Bunnies kicked off the match 26 points clear at the top of the region 5 table, aware that main challengers Oxthants had (on paper) a slightly easier tie.

With Stacey needing to play and swan off on holiday, her early 3/4 coupled with a 9/2 first session win took the Bunnies into a 12-3 lead. The first half of the session saw early wins from Vick and Stacey. Then a great frame (or was it a who?s got the biggest jubblies contest) between the Fish and Warks captain Katie Bonham. The Fish prevailed, taking a very nice scalp indeed, edging the Bunnies into a measley 3-2 lead. Captain McEwan put a stop to a rather average display, taking the first win of a beautiful 9 frames in a row (where?s that ruler?).

The second session couldn?t have lined up more smartly in a military parade, with 3 bunny frames, then one to Warks, three more bunny frames, then one to Warks, then three more bunny frames to round the session off. Griff spent much of her frame farting around, knocking her tip off, then trying out various borrowed cues (fussy cow) on her way to victory. A match up between last years joint region 5 table toppers, Vick and Ali Wilkins, saw Big Mouth playing a quality frame to show who?s really top of the tree (Wookie).
Sorry Toast, only joking, you the man lol.
Anyhoo, session two won 9-2.

The Bunnies historically crappy third session was exactly that. Bunnies just edged it 6-5, with Warks getting their own ruler out, thanks to successive frames from Ali and Tina. Aside from arse bouncing Julie Brittain across the room which was mildly funny, Rowdie, having previously ridden her luck in other rubbishy frames, was utter crap in this session and would surely have been shot in the face, except there wasn?t anyone else to play. Kerry Griffith secured the draw, with player of the match Michaela Lester taking the win. But the session was still shite.

Business as usual was resumed in the fourth session with a 9-2 win. A corking frame from Roo saw her defeat the up and coming Skye Smith, final score 33-11 to the Buns.

All in all a good day out, particularly as Toast once again managed 5 hours straight without telling anyone to #@*& ^##, Rowdie once again managing to remember all the relevant colours (there are four), and the Fish being generally smashing and wonderful.

On the downside, we missed Hooters filthy laugh, Mrs Jo Coe didn?t do any revision AGAIN and Haribo was a bit moody, but that?s teenagers for you.

Deserved POM for Warks was Hazel Payne, only losing out on a maximum to ex-England?s Jo Coe.

Excellent 4/4 from POM Slap Dash Michaela Lester, with Victoria Griffith and Emma Cunningham also putting in maximums. The Wookie now on an absolutely disgusting 20/20 (but still with no POMs lmao). 3/4s from Roo, Pink, Griff, Fish and Rowdie, no one on less than 50%.

Good results from the guys with both Shrek and Cricks taking out their final frames to clinch draws. Not a clean sweep this time around, but no losses so we?re happy.

Up the Bucks, woohoo !!

PS ? Fish is the tits (and also trout a la cr?me)
