Bucks B v Warks B ~ Match Report
Posted by bullet.gif Barlow on March 14 2011
Bucks B?s started a highly anticipated season at home against Warwickshire hoping to put the disappointing finish to last season behind them. With a number of new signings making their debut plus some quality players returning, the thoughts were only about a winning start with such a strong line-up. Starting the match were Mike Chappell, Paul Kanchanlall, Dan Wilkins, Chris Cox, Dane Tuttlebee, David Larner, John Clavey, Franco Marsala, Dave Minister, Kenny Riddell and Arron Simpson with Tony Haggarty and Daren White named as subs.

The B?s got off to a poor start quickly going 3 nil down, Chris Cox stopped the rot in the 4th frame. Dane Tuttlebee, Franco Marsala, Dave Minister and Arron Simpson added to that win, but it didn?t stop the B?s going down 6-5 in the first session.

The second session was a disaster and gave Bucks a mountain to climb. Only Mike Chappell, Franco Marsala and Arron Simpson could find wins and the Bucks went down 8-3 and 14-8 overall. Not the kind of start we were looking for or expecting.

It was going to be an uphill struggle to take anything out of this game but the Bucks did provide some hope by winning the 3rd session 7-4. Mike Chappell, Dan Wilkins, Dane Tuttlebee, David Larner, John Clavey, Franco Marsala and Arron Simpson chalking up wins to put Bucks back in with a shout at 15-18.

Warks however quickly took the match in the 4th session, Dan Wilkins and Dane Tuttlebee being the only winners from the first 8 frames. Dave Minister and Kenny Riddell gave the scoreline some respectability, but Bucks eventually went down 19-25.

Dane Tuttlebee took the player of the match with 3/4, Franco Marsala and Arron Simpson also all finished on 3/4. Mike Chappell, Dan Wilkins and Dave Minister finished on 2/4.

Congratulations to the Bunnies, destroying their opponents yet again. It?s going to be another fantastic season for them by the look of things.

Talking of fantastic seasons, the A?s look to be one of the strongest sides Bucks have had since the region winning team of 2001, and could repeat that achievement by going one better than last seasons? runners-up. Superb performance and great team spirit throughout.

A very disappointing day for the B?s, but overall with the A team result, the Bunnies result and the strength of the squad with the new additions, hopefully it is a blip in the season we can quickly put right.

Arch rivals Northants next game. It?s too early in the season to think of it as a must win, but one thing?s for sure, we must do better.
