Bucks 'A' versus Northants 'A' Match Report

It was the game everyone was up for and let?s not forget we smashed them at our place last season. We started very positively, though not as noisy as we could have been, as we rattled off the first 3 frames thanks to Terry, Jimmy and Dan. Northants pulled one back and again we managed to rattle off another 3 on the trot to take a 6-1 lead, wins from Peter, Stuart and Steve. With only Jamie Mc Gauley winning one out of last 4, it meant that Northants were only 7-4 behind.

Second session went Northants way 7-4 to square the match up with our wins coming from Terry, Jimmy, Peter and Mark. A few good chances had already been thrown away. It was at this point a small group of the Northants players were slinging insults at some of our players, although not heard by everyone, it was heard by some... very disrespectful.

Third session went Northants way again 7-4, our wins coming from Stuart, Steve, Jamie Whittaker and Mark Mc Gauley. Unbelievable misses from a few of our places after putting themselves in great positions.

Again in the last session there were easy chances missed by a few players and again we went down 7-4 to give Northants a 25-19 win. Dan, Ryan, Steve and Jamie Mc Gauley provided the 4 wins.

A very flattering score line for Northants as at least 4 frames were gifted and I mean GIFTED by a couple of our players and then the most outrageous fluke from Wayne Gardiner to take another was the difference between a win and loss. The Bucks were certainly not out-played and although I am annoyed at the frames handed to Northants I am not disheartened and am highly confident that we can reverse that result in the return match.

Congrats to Steve Appleby for MOM for his ? and also to Colin Copper for his Northants MOM also a ? both playing solid pool.

In future we need more noise, more support and more concentration so we do not throw so many games away. It?s ok knowing that we do have a better squad but we still need to perform and that is directed at everyone. We all know that we are so much better than that result so let?s move on and continue to improve and show the rest of this region that we are a headache and not a hiccup. Oh and lets not forget that Micky Mullins, who quoted on facebook ' we dicked those Milton Keynes monkeys', only won a single game on Sunday. Way to go Micky!!!!

I believe in all of our players and very proud to be captain of such a good side. Up the Bucks.

Well done to the ?B?s who managed a draw. Getting off to an 8-3 win in the first they were maybe a little unlucky not to win. Congrats also to Mr Hardaker for MOM, his second in a row.
Bunnies had an amazing 31-13 win over the Northants ladies with player of match going to Jodie Holt. Well done to the seniors who also won, 6-3 for the ?A?s and 5-4 to the ?B?s.

Next game is away to Worcs as our March game has been rearranged for 22nd August. Let?s get back to winning ways.
