Bucks Bunnies Versus Worcs Ladies ~ Match Report

First match back from a second semi-final appearance at national inter-county finals and the Bunnies were hoping to continue their unbeaten run in region 5. With main title rivals Oxford expected to put in a big win against Northants, the Bunnies were determined to take top slot and topple surprise early leaders Warks in the process.

The current Worcs side has been struggling for players having played their previous home fixture against Oxford with the bare 9 players. True to form, Worcs turned up at the Herald with the full eleven, with quality players Becky Lewis, Deb Farr, Holly Ravenhill and Sarah Nicklin. Historically, the Bunnies have found Worcs more difficult to beat than any other in region 5, and once again, Worcs changed themselves around to turn the tables on Bucks. At first this proved successful with Worcs keeping pace in the beginning of the first set, but the arse end of the Bunnies - Toast, Wookie and Rowds, proved too strong, taking the first set 8-3.

A weaker second set from the Bunnies with Harri Shaw?s defeat of Deb Farr, the only win of the first 5 frames. Once again, the rear end pulled it back to edge out Worcs 6-5. The usually weak third set was won 8-3 ? well done ladies - then an utterly pants fourth set was lost 5-6, overall score 27-17. Not a brilliant display from Bucks ladies and a bit on the quiet side, but it?ll do.

Yet another 4/4 leaves 2005 world champ Emma Cunningham still undefeated this season. 3/4s coming from deserved player of the match Stacey McConnell, along with Victoria Griffith, Ruth Lowe and Lisa Reynolds. Rankings look good with Bunnies occupying 6 of the top 11 slots, tables looking good with Bunnies at the top, but Oxford having another good season, currently second with a gap of 9 points - once again, Bucks v Ox looking to be the biggy.
