Warks v Bucks Mens report
Posted by bullet.gif cricks on July 18 2011
Important game for both teams this one. The A team being level on points with Warwickshire before the start of the day and the B team being 4 behind them meant that neither team could really afford to lose.

First up though, thanks to everybody for ensuring that the Emma entrance went according to plan. Sorry you had to get bugged by me the moment you walked in the door but time was short. And on the off-chance that that any Warwickshire players ever read this report, thank you to you as well.

Welcome to the A team to Ross Stone, who now replaces the already forgotten about Neil Goodyer (Neil who?) and also thanks to Aaron Simpson for stepping into to the rather large shoes of Jamie Whittaker who was unable to make this game.

Now, traditionally (and by traditionally, i mean the 4 years I have been back playing, as previous years are obviously irrelevant) the A team start off slowly and its the B team who are more likely to get the squad going. Bit of a change around yesterday though, the noise was coming from the A team part of the hall, with the B's starting off the slower. The first session went in favour of the A team by 7 frames to 4, whilst the B team found themselves 7-4 down.

As an added extra for this report, im going to include the Stuart Douglas alcoholometer. This will be a rough estimate of how many pints he has had compared to how he got on. As I have often said he is the worst player ever when drinking, this will perhaps go some way to proving my theory, or disproving it, as the case may be.

Anyway, at this point its Douglas 2 pints and played 1 won 1.

Session 2 was a good one for both Male Bucks teams. Having lost 3 of the first 4 frames in this session, it would of been almost understandable if the B team had started to think it wasnt going to be there day, but they were having none of that and came back to win the session 6-5 and now trailing by just the 2 frames. The A team, meanwhile, made huge strides towards winning the match by adding an 8-3 session win to the 7-4 that they got in session 1.

At the halfway stage it is now Douglas 4 pints, played 2 won 2.

Now, earlier I made a comment about tradition. And I dont think many regulars would disagree that 'traditionally' the B team are....erm.....well....erm.... not so good in session 3. That all changed yesterday, big time. a 10-1 (thats ten-one) victory turned the whole match around and got them 20-13 in front, have some of that! I normally stay away from mentioning people who have come second in their frames, but on this occasion I think its only fair that people are aware that it was Timmsy who was responsible for it not being an 11-0 drubbing. Oh, im sorry Timmsy, did I say i wouldnt put that in the report? Bwahahahhahha.

The A team finished the 3rd session with 22 frames now on the board and only one more needed for victory. Including a noteable frame from Dan Morgan, who had managed to vanish and had us all looking for him before finally arriving at the table, chalking his cue, breaking and clearing up, then disappearing back to wherever it was we cruely dragged him away from. Well played that man.

As for the Douglas Alcoholometer reading, it is now 6 pints and played 3 won 2 Lost 1.

After Peter Lee had won the second frame of the final session, the A team (with the exception of older Mcgauley and Morgan) took there foot off the pedal a bit. Hopefully, it wont come down to frame difference at the end of it all and we wont really care about that.

The B team struggled slightly at the start of session 4, before reeling off 4 in a row midway through the session to complete the victory and going on to win the session 6-5. Nice one.

As for our A team captain, he is now on 8 pints and played 4 won 2 lost 2. Theory proved.

Final scores then:-

A Team won 25-19
B Team won 26-18
and well done to the Bunnies, with a rather convincing 34-10 win.

A team MOM went to Peter Lee
B team MOM went to Dave Minister (spelt correctly you will notice)
Bunnies LOM went to Kerry Griffiths.
