Northants A versus Bucks A match report

Firstly I would like to say that being a team is much more than just playing pool together. It is about friendship, support, loyalty, pride and self improvement. We need to pull our fingers out and start turning up to games on time so as you can get your arm going and bond together for the day giving each other support through every game. Just being good does not mean you have a right to win. There are no mugs in this game and we certainly can?t afford to celebrate too early as Sunday clearly showed us.
With 4 players missing as we started the match, the noise levels were low. We got trashed by a mixture of bad luck and some bad play, 9-2 to northants with our wins coming from Ryan and Stuart.

Second session was a little better with the Bucks only going down 6-5, still not having the rub of the tables. Wins came from Jamie W, Jimmy, Jamie Mc G, Mark and Steve. 15-7 down and any noise the Bucks were making were being drowned out by Northants.

3rd session was a fecking nightmare, another 9-2 loss with Ryan having more bad luck than most, an excellent cocked hat black only for the white to go in off, robbed!! The luck, or lack of for the Bucks was jaw dropping compared to little touches and kisses Northants were getting. 24-9 down and this was turning into a nightmare and we needed something from the last session. Our 2 wins came from Neil and Terry.

The 4th session just showed ourselves and Northants what we are capable of and have been doing all season. We started to play and won 9-2, our 2 losses from Mark and Dan. This is what we want, grit and determination, concentration and belief, support and respect. This was sadly missing for most of this match.

We need to take each game one at a time, do the job and then move onto the next game. Not just jump ahead 6 games and celebrate winning the region. We made the score respectable today and congrats to all our players but I feel now that I must insist that all our players should be at the venue no later than 11-45. We need this time, you can?t just walk in off the street and expect to play great without hitting a ball. If we are going to get things right on the table then we need to get things right off the table. The squad we have is fantastic and so much better than the players I saw Sunday so let?s knuckle down and win matches. You can worry about the region when we play our last game at home to Herefordshire.

Well done to Neil Goodyer for player off match and also to Chappers for his in the B?s.
I?m not going to bore you anymore, just remember, we?re not just in this for ourselves, we are playing for the Bucks.
