Worcs 'A' versus Bucks 'A' match report
Posted by bullet.gif whatafcukinliberty on April 13 2010
A game Bucks were looking forward to, marred with the fact we were 2 players short for the 'B' team. As much of a downer as this was it was not going to deter us from putting in 100%.
Up against last years regional winners at their home venue was never going to be easy but what the hell, we'll give it a go...
Up first for the bucks was Mark Mc Gauley and ryan Sinclair both taking a nice clearance to win well. The next four games were shared, our 2 coming from Steve Appleby and Peter Lee, giving us a 4-1 lead, a great start from the mighty Bucks. Celebrations had already started but were quickly halted as Worcs took the next 8 games to leave us 9-4 behind and slightly shellshocked. We could be forgiven if heads started to drop and thoughts of a massive defeat looked likely but all credit to Bucks as they dug deep, made lots of noise and still believed that they could come back and do some damage.
What happened next was fecking awesome, Peter Lee and Stuart Douglas took the next 2 with fine clearances. The noise levels kept getting louder, worcs took the next one but then Bucks hit them for 6, yes, 6 in a row to take the session 3-8. Wins coming from Ryan Sinclair, Jamie Mc Gauley, Mike Chappel, Jamie Whittaker, Dan 'the disher' Morgan and Terry Davidson. Our run was stopped when Jimmy lost his 3rd game but then another 4 in a row from bucks meaning that the Bucks had taken 12 out of the last 15 games, what a performance. Mark Mc Gauley with a superb break and dish followed by a dish from Ryan off of the worcs break. Steve and stuart also won their games. Peter Lee then had the unluckiest in off on the black I have seen in a long while, feckin great pot on the black with the white dropping in the centre......damn! Jamie Whittaker then looked like he was the verge of defeat when L Norrey snookered himself. Mr Norrey was not pleased, pushing Chappel out of the way to get his pint he then missed his ball which gave Jamie 2 shots. Thanks very much, Jamie then skillfully cleared the table, shook hands which led the worcs player stomping away muttering 'feckin poof' lol... I damn nearly pissed myself. Bucks went on to win 3 out of last four of this third session, wins from Jamie Mc Gauley, Dan Morgan and Mike chappell, giving us an 8-3 win in the 3rd session and a lead of 13-20 going into the last session.
Worcs stood up for the challenge and won the first 3 games. Ryan, Steve and Jimmy being the casualties with Ryan being the unluckiest one to lose, 16-20. Still the noise and support was so loud that you could hear it from outside. Peter Lee and Jamie Whittaker on next, both with convincing wins and taking us to 22, top stuff. needing one more game for the win it was then the turn of Mark Mc Gauley and Stuart Douglas to try and take the bucks over the winning line. Stuart made an early error which looked like it may cost the game whereas Mark was having a bit of a tactical tussle with his opponent. I looked up and caught Marks eyes as we both got chances to take our games and from then on it looked like a race to see who could take us to that magical 23. Stuart took his chance, potted the black and by the time he was shaking the worcs players hand Mark had sunk his black also. In your face Mc Gauley was the next words out of my mouth as I high fived my fellow ballbag and celebrated us getting to 24. Bucks went on to win 3 from the last 4, wins from Terry D, Jamie Mc Gauley and Man of the Match Dan Morgan giving the Bucks a fantastic 27-17 victory over the reigning regional champs. What a fookin day, incredible result, incredible support and incredible team spirit. I think we have more than proved that we can beat anyone on the day. Keep it up Bucks and maybe next stop Yarmouth.
The funniest thing that happened on Sunday was hearing Terry's explanation of a shot that he took on. Terry had 6 reds, worcs had the black ball middle of the break of cushion, Terry to go, at the other end of the table from the black, Terry had the easiest tuck up imaginable but choose to smack his ball off the side cushion towards top corner and leave the worcs player a chance of a long double on the black to the corner and although this was maybe a 1 in 10 shot the worcs player got it. When i asked Terry why he didnt tuck him up he replied ' I didnt wanna leave him a chance of the one cushion get out in case he hit the black towards the corner' ??????????? It was highly fookin unlikely theat the worcs player would have pulled that shot off but Terry insisted he made the right decision????? Pure genius !!!!!!!!
The 'B's lost 31-13 giving an 8 frame start and the Bunnies won with the yet another fantastic performance 28-16.
Up the Bucks...
